Background
Practically no prior experience with any substances, other than alcohol. Only smoked THC once. The whole experience was done with my cousin in his flat, after a long day of hiking and talking to each other. He had tried tramadol twice before and offered to supervise me, as I was too scared to take anything alone. The aim was to not get hammered but simply have a good night, alcohol was also not an option, since his parents were still home.
Experience report
~21.45 - Ingested 5 tablets containing tramadol. Calculated it to be 190mg tramadol with about 1.6g of paracetamol in total. Important to note, the tablets were not crushed, just bitten in half and swallowed. Me and my cousin proceeded to watch some youtube videos, while lying on his bed. We were talking and joking, not really paying that much attention to the videos themselves.
~23.00 - Thought I had something, a slight, pleasant dizziness and just a good mood overall, but in retrospect this was likely a placebo effect. We were invited to the dinner table by my cousins parents and drank a cup of tea together. We were having some small talk and that good mood proceeded to very slowly increase. It was not a state of euphoria, but I just felt relaxed and happy. Talking (to my cousin and his parents) also felt extremely pleasant: I was not too talkative or laughing non stop, but it somehow felt really good. At the same time, I was completely normal, looked completely fine, my thoughts were clear and I did not mix up words (happens to me when I am drunk).
~23.30 - We returned back to my cousins room. I immediately felt irritated from the bright light from his lamp, we turned it off and turned on an LED light with some dim purple light. I lied down onto his bed, other than the increasingly relaxed and pleasant mood, I felt very affectionate and had an urge to text my girlfriend how much I love her (which I promptly did). My cousin was having similar effects and he recommended me to listen to music. We both put on headphones and listened to a few songs, all of which somehow felt deeper and more immersive. Especially when a favorite part of the song comes, you feel pleasant shivers and sensations in your whole body.
~00.00 - The tramadol definitely kicked in. We got out of bed and I could feel a very pleasant warmth in my body. Also felt extremely relaxed and happy, its like all my worries and problems suddenly disappeared. I did not, however, forget them, it was like I simply did not care anymore. Very slight visual effects, were moving objects had some sort of blurry effect behind them.
~00.30 - Starting to peak. I proceeded to go for a warm shower and it was the best feeling I ever had. It felt like my whole body was relieved from any stress whatsoever and I was smiling from just the feeling of warm water running down my body. My knees slightly bent down and I just stood there for a whole ten minutes. My mind was also clear and the only thought was "how good I feel right now".
~01.00 - Same sensations as before, but they got even more amplified. I felt a little sleepy, but I did not want to sleep, perhaps I just was so relaxed.
~02.00 - Lying in bed and talking to my cousin, he was definitely falling asleep already, I continued listening to music ("Oh the Bliss" by Hammock hits hard now). Extremely warm and pleasant feeling, especially in the tips of my fingers and toes. Comparable to when you smoke after a very long break and the tingling sensation comes, but it is a 100 times stronger and continues non stop. At the same time your mind is in such a peaceful state: nothing worries or bothers you, only one word, you are simply HAPPY.
~03.00 - Still listening to music, the effects have not decreased at all. I did notice, that when I stood up to get a cup of water, the pleasant, tingling sensation disappeared and returned only after I lied down and relaxed. I am guessing that the setting is extremely important, for a good experience with tramadol.
~04.00 - Slowly starting to fall asleep, effects are still extremely distinct, no coming down is felt, just very tired now.
~09.00 - Woke up, felt completely fine, nothing like a hangover whatsoever. Probably also the best sleep I ever had.
Conclusion Would recommend to try to anyone, was a very relaxing experience. The set and setting is, however, very important. I was lucky to have extremely good company with me. No negative effects at all, at least from my experience. A must try: listening to music and a warm shower during the peak. The peak came after about 2.5 hours for me, very gradually. It lasted for about 4 hours until I fell asleep.
