Experience:??? DXM (Oral) - My Friend, Dexter

DXM is weird. Of course it's weird, all drugs, especially hallucinogens, are weird.

But DXM is weird in a very particular, indescribable way. And to document this profoundly addictive weirdness that I relish in to escape reality, I've decided to make an anecdotal report recounting many of these 'weird' effects i've experienced over the years.

To give a basic description of my physical & mental status, I am 18, 6'1, ~160 pounds, and I have Autism.

My mental profile is aberrant from most others, which will may cause myself to experience different effects from the average junkie (Or 'psychonaut' if we're being fancy.)

If anyone stumbles across these reports and believes them to be extraordinary in any way, this will most likely be my last DXM based report, given that I am writing about an amalgamation of effects I experience while under the influence.

And, on that note, let's talk about

My Friend, Dexter.

Blind-Sight

This effect, from what I gather, is experienced by many Dex-Heads that i've spoken to, and doesn't appear to me unique to myself.

Blind-Sight, as I call it, is a unique effect I've experienced from DXM that is noted by the brain seemingly attempting to replicate a room you're in when you close your eyes.

For myself, it is only experienced in a dark space that I am familiar with. The 'severity' of the effect seems to scale with the dosage you're on, and only seems to appear during the peak.

On a lower dose, Blind-Sight can be described as faint blue light with noticeable dark gaps emanating from your body, and objects that you remember the location of taking the same faint blue visage.

Higher Dose Blind-Sight results in your brain seemingly imagining the room you're in to a strangely convincing & realistic replication. It obviously still feels 'fake', with everything appearing to be on some strange spectrum of light-blue, with many major details being absent.

One of my favorite things to do utilizing this effect is to black out my Bathroom & take a shower. Despite the pitch black conditions, I am able to 'see' in a way, and am not crippled by the darkness like I normally would be. An exercise one could do to potentially imagine this effect would be to close ones eyes, move your arm around in front of your closed eyes, and look where you know the arm to be, and attempt to visualize its presence in that area.

Blind-Sight Adventures

A consistent effect I experience that coincides with blind-sight is the experience of floating around the imagined reality of the room I am in in various fashions.

The first time I experienced this effect was on around 500mg of HBR, and it involved me seemingly detaching from my body & floating around my room with a deep voice echoing nonsensical, though reassuring, sentences. Another, arguably more bizarre version of this experienced involved an imaginary rollercoaster manifesting in the previously mentioned room adhering to its confines, with me navigating its rails in a mine cart.

Reality Warping

I didn't experience this effect until I had a significant amount of experience with this substance. As of writing, I've yet to hear about any anecdotal reports documenting this experience from within the DXM using community, thus if I were in the readers shoes, I wouldn't expect to experience this effect.

I describe Reality Warping as seemingly warping into a different space entirely from the perspective of ones vision. I've only experienced this in visually un-stimulating environments of brighter colours. To give an example, the first time I had this effect was during detention, in which I was confined in a small desk space facing a wall, with two dividers on either end shielding my peripheral vision.

When it occurred, it seemed as if I were staring down a long hallway that looked vaguely like an office space. As soon as I moved my eyes, though, the strange space vanished from sight.

Every time this occurs to me in the present the same criteria must be met. Bland environment of brighter (I.E Beige, Light Brown) but not completely white colours, and eye contact with a particular area without cessation. Another note, this only occurred when I was at least a day into a binge, and never from a singular trip.

The Scent of Life

This effect may only be subjective to myself, and occurs every time I am under the influence of DXM. The air around me comes to have a certain scent, one which is essentially indescribable, but could perhaps be characterized as being wet, alive, and crisp. It's always accompanied by a taste in the mouth which also bares these adjectives.

Its presence is strangely nostalgic, and always brings me back to better times.

-

Flesh Welding

This effect occurs on a variety of other substances i've used (LSD, Ketamine, 3-HO-PCP, etc)

But seems to occur more frequently and lucidly on DXM than other substances i've used.

It seems to be a purely physical sensation, which feels like certain parts of your body 'connect' to whatever piece of furniture you're using to relax. It's almost as if the physical sensation of the pressure against whichever part of your body vanishes, with a warm tingling connectivity taking its place.

-

Mental Orchestra

From anecdotal reports i've read from other DXM users, this effect seems to be somewhat common. It involves hallucinatory music, sounding as if its being played faintly from another room.

With myself it always sounds like punk rock or heavy metal being played from a distant location, usually only occurring when i'm feeling energetic while under the influence of DXM. The music in question, while sounding like these genres to me, are never songs that I have heard in the real world, with the hallucinatory music being a fictitious amalgamation of those respective genres.
Neither Punk Rock nor Heavy Metal are a favorite genre of mine, though I do enjoy either from time to time. I hypothesize my mind produces this music due to the energetic & fast paced nature of either.

-

Object Transformation

This effect is somewhat similar to the aforementioned 'Reality Warping' in that it involves a visual hijacking of ones surroundings, altering them to a different state to ones eyes than what reality would present.

When I experience this effect, it seems to only occur when I maintain eye contact with a feature that could be confused for something different when under low light, or under brief gaze.

The first time I experienced this, I was sitting on my bed looking at a pile of laundry with a brown backpack suspended above that.

As I stared, a metallic hum began to ring through my ears (Similar to what one would experience on DMT, or high amounts of Psilocybin). As the metallic hum came, the feature I mentioned before began warping into various different characters. The only one I can vividly recall is the feature transforming into a racist caricature of an over-weight black woman. This was also the last 'warping' of the object, as the hallucination caught me off guard and sent me into a fit of laughter.

Closed Eye Adventures

When I first began my DXM use, I was in school and had a rigid sleep schedule that I had to adhere to. During long binges, I taught my self to snap into a sort of meditation that allowed me to sleep on DXM, regardless of the plateau I reached before I slept.

Because of this, I've experienced many profoundly strange & beautiful hallucinatory states that were a result of the darkness that encompassed my vision. Due to the quantity of these experiences, I will only describe a few that are on the top of my memory.

One night, I remember walking next to a pale-white railroad track in a void that was otherwise featureless and black. After awhile, a large locomotive drove passed accompanied by the signature doppler-effect whizz. The locomotive itself was also pale white, and seemingly endless for some time until it suddenly vanished.

Another night, Dexter took me to my own room, in the exact state I was laying in. Only, there were tall, slim, pointy-hooded figures standing above me, seemingly studying me. Each had four arms, which only moved to either cross themselves or seemingly ponder by scratching their 'Chin'.

There was also one time, I was in my maternal grandmothers house on Christmas. It was a fairly believable experience, as the details of the house were quite realistic. The vision kept me suspended on a small stairway that lead into the living room, where I could see the fireplace, the couch, and the plastic Christmas tree in the corner. This place, at one point, brought me great comfort, and I remember a profound warmth enveloping my body as I observed.

On a final note, a great number of these visions were very similar to a DMT experience, with the metallic hum, vast machine-scapes, and abrupt yet natural transition into the next vision. The only notable difference was the lack of any 'entities' to interact with, and the colouring always being shades of black that somehow had depth & shape despite the profound darkness.

Conclusion

DXM is an extremely intense & frankly bizarre substance. It's treated by the online drug community with a degree of contempt due to its legality, affordability, and ease of access. Yet, it's mystically bizarre experiences will rock even the most experienced Psychonaut to the core, and I feel some amount of respect should be given to this substance.

But, as it stands, DXM is somewhat obscure to casual drug users, and will probably remain that way for the near future.

Perhaps, in the distant future, DXM will influence another young mind as it has influenced mine, and from the heavens I will look down and chuckle.

But until then, let's get fucked up, and maybe learn a thing or two along the way.

C'est infini.
