Though ground seeds can be consumed raw, this is an unreliable method of consuming the harmala alkaloids within. The stomach can only soak the seed material in gastric juice for a limited period before it is moved further along the digestive system for absorption of molecules in solution. Because of this, whole seeds are ineffective, ground or pulverised seeds work in some circumstances, but in order to reliably and predictably achieve psychoactivity, it is most efficient to first extract the alkaloids within the seeds of Peganum Harmala into solution by means of brewing for at least 30 minutes. | |||
