»Tilidine« (also known as Valoron®, Darby, generics) is a synthetic opioid that is commonly used and prescribed to treat severe to very severe pain. | |||
It is a prodrug that is metabolized in the body primarily in the liver by cytochrome P450 enzymes to its active metabolite nortilidine. | |||
“Tilidine” was patented in 1967 by the former German pharmaceutical manufacturer Gödecke and introduced to the market in 1970 as “Valoron®”. | |||
Nowadays, generics are also on the market, usually as a fixed combination with Naloxone (Narcan®, Naloxone + Brandname, Narcanti, Evzio) to reduce the risk of abuse. | |||
