After a week of agitating the jar a few times a day it is now time to filter off the unwanted mushroom sludge. You will need a source of heat for this step. Place your jar in a pot then use something made of metal to lift the jar up from the bottom to limit direct contact of the heat. Once the mixture starts to boil turn the heat off. Get another jar and put a coffee filter on top and strain the mixture. Make sure the mixture is this hot because the psilocybin and psilocin are dissolved in the ethanol and will start to recrystallised once the mixture cools down. If there is still mushrooms bits in the mixture you will have to restart this step.

(Optional) If you want to save the solvent and (don't hate the planet) you can use a distillation apparatus to reclaim the ethanol. Additional you can also use a vacuum filter instead of gravity filtering with a coffee filter.
