Methcathinone (also known as Ephedrone originally, Methcat and CAT) is a synthetic psychoactive class::stimulant substance of the chemical class::cathinone chemical class. It produces standard amphetamine-like stimulant effects. It is similar to the cathinone compounds found in the khat plant of eastern Africa and mephedrone in its structure and effects.

Methcathinone was first synthesised in 1928 in the USA and it was used in the Soviet Union as an antidepressant. It is common in central and eastern Europe, often sold as the more well known mephedrone or synthesized from OTC drugs containing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine.

Dosing
It is recommended to plan the total amount of Methcathinone you will take beforehand, how many times you are planning to redose and limit the amount you have accessible accordingly, to minimalize the risk of compulsive redosing.
Some people may also advice to tapper the comedown of a high dose, with a low dose after approximately an hour.
Synthesis
Methcathinone is synthesised most easily by reacting Pseudoephedrine with potassium permanganate, although dichromate may also be used as a oxidizer. The reaction is quite unstable and needs to be held at specifically -15 Celsious, so that the oxidation is subtle and not too energetic, turning Pseudoephedrine into Benzaldehyde. The same goes for the amount of potassium permanganate, it has to be a specific ratio of oxidizer to Pseudoephedrine.
