Muscimol (also known as agarin or pantherine) is a psychoactive substance primarily found in the Amanita muscaria mushroom commonly known as the fly agaric or fly amanita mushroom.

The active substance of muscimol effects the brain as a strong  GABAA receptor agonist, causing a sedative and dissociation type state when active in the brain.
